DEATH CLAIMS FORMER MAYOR

Alderson - Feb 3, Alfred Macberry McNeer, 91, died at his home in Alderson today at 6:45 a. m. Death was attributed to complications of old age. Until recently McNeer was a magistrate of the town of Alderson and was a member of the Johnson Memorial Methodist Church. He was born at Greenville, May 9, 1857, and was married to the late Emmaa Smith McNeer. He was a former mayor of Alderson and served at one time a member of the council. He was a bandleader and was very active in civic affairs. He was the son of John McNeer and Betsey McNeer. He is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Frank Baker, of Alderson and Mrs. P. E. Aldreidge , of Hntington. Funeral services will he held at the Johnson Memorial Methodist Church at 3 p. m. with Clyde Hensloy and Rev. Randolph F. Johnson officiating. Burial will he made in the Alderson Cemetery. The body will be removed from the Lubban Funeral Home to the church to lie in state from 1 p.m. until the funeral hour. Active pallbearers will be George Bare, Ashby Huffman, Edwin Cadle, Bill Simmons, J. O. McClung and John Shawyer.
