Catherine Pennington's mother was Susannah Nossman. Susannah and William Pennington were married 8 Jun 1808 in Monroe co., VA (now WVA). Susannah died in 1834, so any of William's children born between 1808-1834 would be her's.

At one time her first name was listed as Rachel and middle name as Catherine. There is no proof that her name was Rachel Catherine Bennett. There are many of records showing her name as Catherine or Katherine but not one that shows her name as Rachel. I have copies of original deeds, census records and picture of the headstone at Rock Springs Cemetery and all just have Katherine Bennett. I don't know if the Pennington researcher has some verification that I am not aware of but unless they do it will be confusing to other researchers. Source; Janet Bennett Foster
