"Elijah E. Clouse, son of George Clouse, Sr.. was born about 1770 in Virginia according to Census records. He moved with his father to Washington County, Tennessee before 1800. February 26, 1799 he attended an estate sale of Samuel Culberton. He bought a plow and three sheep. His father and brothers George, Jr. and John also attended to sale. He paid poll taxes for the first time in Washington County, Tennessee in 1799. In 1806 he paid taxes on 100 acres of land. In 1807 he paid taxes on 50 acres. This was the last year that he paid taxes there. He served a term on ten months in the War of 1812 from Rutherford County, Tennessee. He had moved there around 1807-08. He was living there in 1810.
October 9, 1813 he was co-signer of a deed selling his interest of his father's estate of 100 acres in Greasy Cove of Washington County, Tennessee.
Elijah moved from Rutherford County, TN to Bond County, IL sometime between 1821 and 1830.
