Harrison H. Thurston served in the Civil War as a private in Company K 16th Regiment of the Vermont Infantry. He enrolled September 15, 1862 at Chester for a period of nine months. At the time of his enrollment, he was described as 5' 7 1/4 " tall, light complexion, blue eyes, and light hair. Harrison was mustered in on October 23, 1862 at Brattleboro, Vermont. He was mustered out on August 10, 1863 at Brattleboro, Vermont. Harrison served simultaneously with his brother, George R. Thurston.
