GEORGETOWN -- Sandra Weed Squires, 58, died Tuesday, May 6, 1997, at her Lake Greenwood home after an illness.

She was born Oct. 16, 1938, in Charleston County, a daughter of Viola Chinners Weed and the late Lester Weed Sr.

She was a 1956 graduate of Winyah High School in Georgetown and was a graduate of Columbia College. She was active in Kairos Prison Ministry and was a member of the Emmaus community.

Mrs. Squires served as librarian of Archibald Rutledge Academy in McClellanville. She was a charter member of Surfside United Methodist Church of Surfside Beach and Ocean Grove United Methodist Church in Awendaw.

Survivors, in addition to her mother of Georgetown, include her husband, Jim Squires; two daughters, Renee Millwood of Columbia and Melanie Geddings of Georgetown; a brother, Lester ``Buzzy'' Weed Jr. of Florence; and five grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 7-8:30 tonight at Graham Funeral Home of Georgetown.

A graveside service will be at 11 a.m. Thursday in Hillcrest Cemetery in Conway.
