ANDREWS -- Tommy Lee Newton , 70, died Tuesday, June 11, 1996, at home.

He was born Jan. 26, 1926, in the Earles community of Williamsburg County, a son of the late John James Newton Sr. and Stella Martin Newton .

Mr. Newton was a farmer and was employed by Beal Lumber Co. for 27 years, until the mill closed in 1976. He was a Baptist.

Survivors include his wife, Letha Roberts Newton ; two sons, Albert Randolph of Andrews, and Herbert Randolph of Little Rock, Ark.; three daughters, Faye R. Turner of Andrews, Louise Randolph of Havelock, N.C., and Lucille R. Cleland of Beaufort; two brothers, the Rev. John J. Newton Jr. of Columbia, and Ray Newton of Andrews; two sisters, Roxie N. Mishoe and Joyce N. Harrington, both of Andrews; six grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

The funeral will be at 11 a.m. today at Mayer Funeral Home, Georgetown chapel. Burial will be in Pennyroyal Memorial Gardens in Georgetown.
