OBITUARY

VAN BUREN - Simon LaBreck, 74, died June 11, 1997, at his residence after a long illness under the care of Hospice of Aroostook. He was born in Caswell, Oct. 15, 1922, the son of Noel and Alice (Fisher) LaBreck.


He was employed as a lumberman with his father from a very young age. He was married to the former Annette M. (Pelletier) LaBreck for 45 years. She predeceased him in 1996. He lived in Caswell for many years before moving to Keegan where he attended St. Remi Catholic Church.


Mr. LaBreck supported his wife's efforts as a longtime advocate for the poor and elderly and was associated with the Maine Democratic Party. He was always responding to friends who called for help. He and his wife enjoyed vacationing with their children in southern Maine. He was very thankful to God for his daughters who lived nearby and could help everyday. He enjoyed the outdoors, gardening, hunting, and fishing, will all the members of his family and riding horses with his wife, Annette.


Mr. LaBreck is survived by five daughters, Diane LaBreck and Mrs. Clifford (Susan) Deschaine, both of Van Buren, Mrs. Norman (Theresa) Beaupre of Sabattus, Mrs. Harold (Jeannine) Lausier of Caribou and Mrs. Joey (Noella) Byram of Lisbon Falls; three sons, Rodney LaBreck of Lewiston, Claude LaBreck of Portland and David LaBreck of Kennebunk; three brothers, Claude "Boy" LaBreck and Clifford LaBreck, both of Hamlin and George "Leo" LaBreck of Caswell; five sisters, Meda King, Edna Perreault and Eva Bell, all of Caswell, Mrs. Joseph (Beatrice) Morin of Hamlin and Mildred Cormier of Van Buren; two brothers-in-law, Donald and Roland Pelletier of Van Buren; 17 grandchildren and two great-grandsons.


Relatives and friends may call at the Ouellette-Thibault Funeral Home, 12 High St., Van Buren, 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Friday and from 9 a.m. until time of service on Saturday. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11 a.m. Saturday at the St. Bruno-St. Remi Catholic Church.


Committal service and interment will be in Grande Riviere Cemetery. Those who wish may contribute in his memory to Hospice of Aroostook, P.O. Box 688, Caribou 04732-0688. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
