Vona was born Jan. 28, 1935, in Seattle, Wash. to Rollin Lyman Allen and Helen Miskin Allen. She attended schools in Tetonia and Idaho Falls, graduating from Idaho Falls High School. She then attended Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah.
She married Burton Shelton July 6, 2004, in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple.
She lived in Utah, Alaska, Washington, Idaho, Iowa and California. She was a member of the LDS church and enjoyed attending the temple. She enjoyed animals, especially horses and goats, gardening, sewing, singing and telling stories from her childhood. She lived for her children.
She is survived by her husband, Burton Shelton of Idaho Falls; three daughters, Nawlene Reynolds of Idaho Falls, Terrah (Brandon) Hatch of Colville, Wash., and Rebecca (Marius) Gilca of Salt Lake City, Utah; two sons, Nathan (Teresa) Hancock of Ucon and Todd (Brenda) Hyde of Iona; three sisters, Roxy Brazzeal of Idaho Falls, Sozel (Jerry) Mumm of Rexburg and Jamar Wilson of Salt Lake City; two brothers, Eric (Gayle) Allen of Salt Lake City, and Arrel (Marcia) Allen of St. Anthony; 16 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents and one son, Brett Hancock, and one brother.
