DEATH OF MRS. HELEN M. SMITH
Mrs. Helen M. Smith died at her home in Boulder, Monday, October 11, 1909, passing from this life to the life to come without a struggle and hardly a notice from her that the end was so near. She had live 96 years, and 4 months, a life of usefulness, of Christian love and helpfulness. As she had joined the Methodist church at sixteen years of age, she had been a member for eighty years. Few can have such a record as that.
Mrs. Smith came to Black Hawk, Colo., in 1860, and to Boulder in 1876, was married to Nelson K. Smith in 1832, and her entire wedded life was spent on the frontier of Indiana, Wisconsin and Colorado.
Mrs. Smith leaves seven children, the oldest being 74 years of age and youngest 59 years. She also leaves sixteen grand children and thirteen great grand children. Six grand sons were pall bearers at the funeral which was held in Boulder Tuesday morning. Rev. Vincent who knew her forty-six years ago, officiated. She was the mother of Hon. R. N. Smith of this city.
