Asa Kittridge Ober, for the past forty years a highly respected resident of Morristown, died very suddenly Monday noon at the home of his daughter, Mrs. V. C. Heath, in the south part of town.

He had been in failing health for the past three or four years and death was due to heart disease and kidney trouble of which he had been a sufferer. Mr. Ober had apparently been feeling as well as usual during the forenoon and at a little before noon returned to the house, from the road where he had been filling a hole with dirt. He laid down upon a lounge and complained of feeling badly. His daughter got him some medicine which he was in the habit of taking when suffering from bad spells of the heart, and after a few minutes he went to the barn and feed the stock. He returned to the house at about 12:30, and as his son-in-law was away, Mrs. Heath prepared lunch, which they were eating, when Mr. Ober's hands dropped to his side, death coming almost instantly.

The funeral was held this afternoon, at 2 o'clock, from the house, Rev. C. C. St. Clare of the Cong'l church officiating.

Interment was in Pleasant View Cemetery in the family lot, beside his wife, who died eight years ago.

The deceased was born in Eden, 71 years ago the 21st day of last January, one of six children born to Christopher Dodge and Sarah Kittridge Ober.

His parents moved from Eden to Johnson and when 14 years of age Asa left home, going first to Lowell, Mass, where he worked-in-the-mills. He later went to sea, following the life of a sailor for eight years, during which time he visited many lands, spending some time in Australia as a gold miner.

In 1853 he was married in Halifax, Nova Scotia, to Miss Mary Ann Whitney of Richibucto, N.B. To them were born three children, one of whom, a daughter, died when only five years of age. He moved to Morrisville 40 years ago' and has since resided in town.

He is survived by one brother, Aaron Ober of Iowa, one daughter, Mrs. Heath, and one son, William Ober of White River Junction.

He was an honest, industrious citizen and had a large circle of friends.

The bereaved family have the sympathy of the community.
