Thomas Edward Green, 84, died at 7:05 this morning at his home, 630 Lansing Street. Mr. Green had been confined to his bed for the last seven weeks and had been in poor health for about two years. Death was attributed to hardening of the arteries and the infirmities of old age.
By occupation, Mr. Green had been a stone mason for many years and specialized in the making of cobblestone walls. He had done work at the summer homes of Dr. D.G. Gregor and Mrs. Emma Flower Taylor at Henderson Harbor. He was last employed at the Children's Home of Jefferson County in outer State Street during its construction.
Mr. Green was a member of the State Road Baptist Church at Honeyville and of the Mason's Union, No. 56, of this city. He had served as president of the Mason's Union for a number of years.
He was born in the town of Rodman, April 7, 1848, the son of the Late Edward W. and Louisa (Seeley) Green, who were natives of that town. Mr. Green resided at Rodman and Adams Center until he came to Watertown in 1900. Mr. Green married Miss Alice L. Bunce at Adams Center, July 18, 1868. Mrs. Green died in this city on January 27, 1914.
Surviving him are two sons: Jesse B. Green of Champion and Edward T. Green, Watertown, a milk dealer; three daughters: Mrs. Thomas (Lola) Hobert and Mrs. Alice Hayes of Watertown and Miss Lola H. Green of Carthage; 29 grandchildren, three great grandchildren and several nephews and nieces. Another son, Ross J. Green, died August 30, 1931.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday afternoon at 1:15 from the home and at 2:30 at the State Road Baptist Church at Honeyville. Burial will be made in the family plot at Honeyville (actually, he was buried in Union Cemetery, Adams Center, NY).
