Carl Wahrmund
Sadness was brought to the hearts of many relatives and friends of Carl Wahrmund last Friday morning, April 20th, at 8 o'clock, when he departed this life, following an illness of a week's duration. Only a few days before his death he had been brought from his home at Menard to the home of his daughter, Mrs. Jim Hey, of this city where he could receive every care that loving hands could administer.
Deceased was bron in Gillispie County on September 29, 1849, thus having attained the advanced age of 78 years, 7 months and 18 days.
October 16, 1875 he married to Miss Elizabeth Wartenbach, and this union was blessed with seven children, all of whom survive. Besides his children he is survived by four brothers and one sister, and a number of grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife on March 20, 1916.
Mr. Carl Wahrmund was known as a man of many fine qualitites, and was admired by a large circle of friends. At one time he resided in Mason where he followed the trade of blacksmith. From Mason County he moved to Gilliespie and later moved to Menard where he remained until stricken by his fatal illness.
Funeral services were held at Menard Sunday afternoon, and were conducted by Rev. M. Heinrich, pastor of the local Lutheran Church.
