He was born in Monroe Co., NY and when 5 years old came to Oakland county, Michigan with his parents and lived there until he became a man. In 1864 he came to Tuscola Co., settling on a farm in Ellington township where he lived until 1900 when he removed to Caro. In 1865 he married Elizabeth Hutchinson and they became the parents of 5 children.
At the time of his death, 3 children and his widow survived.
They were Eunice Greenfield, Colling; Dwight Turner, Elmwood and Floyd A of Ellington. Three sisters and one brother also survived: Mrs. Elizabeth Barrett and Mrs. Isabelle Mills of Shiawasses county, Mrs. Ann Adams and James Turner of Ellington
