"Another of our old soldiers has left us, Grandpa Marick of Franklin, Nebr., formerly of Reamsville, Kans. Gabriel Marick was born July 27, 1842, and was married to Mary Ann Biddle in the year 1864. To this union twelve children were born, two dying in infancy, and one, Lizzie, dying at the age of fourteen years. The rest were present at the bedside of their father when the end came, with the exception of Mrs. Jim Farris of Wyoming and Sam Marick of Meldrum, Nebr., who arrived a few hours later. The children are Mrs. Jim Farris, Cheyenne, Wyo. Mrs. Joe Chance, Reamsville, Kans.; Ed. Marick, of Reamsville; Sam Marick, Meldrum, Nebr.; Chance Marick, Reamsville; Calvin Marick, Franklin, Nebr.; Mrs. Bertha Wigfield, Reamsville; Mrs. Mary Morrison, Reamsville, and Anna Marick, still at home. There are 32 grandchildren and four great grandchildren. The G.A.R. Post held a short service at the home and a minister from Franklin, assisted by Rev. Adams of the U.B. church of which he was a member, preached the funeral at Ash Grove church. A large and sorrowing crowd followed the remains which were laid to rest in the Reamsville cemetery."
