Ellis was born February 4, 1919 in Young County to James Thomas Hamilton and Minnie Lee Tyra Hamilton, On may 18, 1956 he married Eula Hulse in Abilene, Texas.. He was a member of the Methodist Church.
Survivors at this time were His wife, Eula 'Polly" Hulse Hamilton of the home;two sons, James Hamilton of Graham and Eddy Hamilton of Breckenridge;two daughters, Mariann Beale of Plains, Kansas and Minnie Tom Hamilton of Huntsville, Texas; Two step-daughters, Donna Wicker of Abilene and Ethel Brockman of Oakland, California; one brother, Tyra Hamilton of Lubbock; six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
