Obituary from the Shreveport Times newspaper, Aug. 8, 1977, Monday, p. 10-A:

Dr. L. W. Gorton, a Shreveport physician, died at 7 a.m. Sunday in the Virginia Hall Nursing Home after a lengthy illness. He was 90.

The Waterproof native, who resided at 519 Huron, had lived in Shreveport for 50 years. He was associated with Gorton, Jones and Gaven Eye, Ear, Nose and Throat Specialists.

An active member of First Presbyterian Church of Shreveport, Dr. Gorton was a World War I veteran and served in Panama. His memberships included the American Legion and 40 and 8 Club.

Funeral arrangements are pending at Osborn Funeral Home.

Survivors include a niece, Mrs. Marie Gorton Rumpler of Alexandria, Va., and a cousin, Marlin Drake of Shreveport.

Memorial contributions may be made to First Presbyterian Church.

Funeral services for Dr. L. W. Gorton, 90, of 519 Huron will be at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday at Forest Park Cemetery Mausoleum.

Officiating will be the Rev. Stanford Parnell, assistant pastor of First Presbyterian Church. Arrangements are under direction of Osborn Funeral Home.

The Shreveport physician died at 7 a.m. Sunday in a local nursing home after a lengthy illness.
