Vernon H. Campbell, 76, of Bean Blossom, died Monday, January 4, 1988, at his home on Gatesville Road.

A Brown County native, he was a retired civil service employee at Fort Benjamin Harrison, Indianapolis. Mr. Campbell liked to fish and after being introduced to the game of golf when in his 50's by his son Jim, became an avid golfer.

Born June 1, 1911, on Bear Wallow Road, he was the son of Alexander and Anna Margaret Robinson Campbell. His wife, Violet Smith Campbell survives.

Mr. Campbell and his family left Brown County in the late 1930's and returned to the Bean Blossom area in the 1950's.

Other survivors include three sons, James V. Campbell of Nashville, David L. Campbell of Indianapolis, and John Ray Campbell of California; a daughter, Nancy A. Carr of Plano, Texas; a sister, Ruth Lake of Converse; two brothers, Orville Campbell of Edinburgh and Kenneth Campbell of Dickinson, North Dakota; and eight grandchildren.

Services were Thursday at Bond-Mitchell Funeral Home with burial in Greenlawn Cemetery.
