Hinton - Dusty Smith, a son given by our Lord to Travis and Cherril (Bennett) Smith, was born June 28, 1980, in Weatherford. he passed peacefully at home on Aug. 23, 2010, at the age of 30.
Funeral services were held Saturday, Aug. 28, 2010, at the First Baptist Church, Hinton, with Rev. John Gable and Rev. Bob Waitman officiating. Burial was in Hinnton Cemetery, Hinton. Services were under the direction of Hinton Turner Funeral Home, Hinton.
Dusty graduated from Ryan High School. He was very active in FFA serving in various capacities includikng president. He excelled in football and baseball, achieving numerous honors and awards. After high school, his plans took him to higher education. He earned two bachelor's degrees: one degree in biology and one in history from SOWSU in Weatherford.
He enjoyed spending time with his family and freinds. Dusty loved to read and had an exceptional memory. He often dazzled audiences with his in-depth knowledge of complicated subjects. He enjoyed playing golf, attending John Rezel and Dave Matthews Band concerts and comparing different genres of music. Dusty enjoyed watching high school and college football games. His proudest moments came while spending time with his baby girl, Ryleigh.
Dusty accepted Christ as his peronal Savior while at Falls Creek and was baptized in the spring waters. Today, we find comfort knowing that he has surpassed time and entered into eternity with his Savior. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Ryan and most recently attended the Bridgeport Methodist Church.
Survivors includ his daughter Ryleigh Smith of Tuttle; parents Travis and Cherril Smith of Tuttle; sister Candy Christy and her husband David of Sunray, Texas; brothers, Jason Smith and his wife Keena of Oklahoma City and Chafferty Smtih and wife Jamie Beth of Ardmore; niece Cassidy Christy of Sunray; nephew, Cainan Smith, Ardmore; aunts Carolyn Bennett of Hydro, Minalee Stewart of Yukon, June Arnold of Hinton and Joy Miller of Hinton; uncles, Marcus Smith of Clinton and Harlan Smith of Durant; and numerous cousins and relatives and many friends.
Dusty was preceded in death by his grandparents, Ben and Elloween Bennett, and Marshall and Lorene Smith, and an aunt, Marsha Smith.
