St. George/Lyman, Utah - Our beloved husband, father, grandfather and brother, Ivan Wood, age 94, died September 7, 2010 at his home in St. George. He was born December 28, 1915 in Lyman, Utah, a son of Jesse and Trena DeLeeuw Wood.

He married Mildred "Millie" Chappell, December 19, 1938 in the Manti LDS Temple.

Ivan was a rancher and farmer in Wayne County for many years, where he served on the Soil Conservation Board and a member of the Utah Cattlemen's Association. He received an award for being one of the first farmers in Wayne County to put in the sprinkler irrigation system on his farm.

After he retired in the early 1980's they moved to Sandy where he was an assistant manager and maintenance man of Willow Wood Retirement Complex. They later returned home to Lyman and Ivan worked for the Forrest Service in his later years.

Ivan enjoyed hunting and being with his family. He and Millie became snow birds and moved to St. George three years ago.

He is survived by his loving wife, Millie, of St. George; his children: Sandra Mae and Jim Stoddard of West Jordan; Karla and Jack Finnegan of South Jordan; Trena Wood of St. George; Margaret and Gary Atkinson of Sandy; 28 grandchildren; 78 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren; a sister, Erma Wood Alvey of Levan.

He was preceded in death by his son, Michael Wood; four brothers and five sisters: Willis Wood, Don Wood, Woodrow Wood, James Wood, Joy Wood, Emma Mott, Ida Lazenby, Virginia Taylor and Rachael Baker.

Funeral Services will be held Monday, September 13, 2010 at 1:00 P.M. in the Lyman LDS Ward Chapel, where friends may call for viewing Monday morning from 11:00 to 12:30 prior to the services.

Burial will be in the Lyman Cemetery under the care of the Springer Turner Funeral Home of Richfield and Salina, Utah.
