Mrs. H. M. Ely Passes Away After Lingering Illness. The death of Mrs. H . M. Ely occurred at Rodney, Iowa on Monday, December 22, 1913, Addie Idetta Hollister was born July 19, 1877, and was at the time of her death 36 years, 6 months, and 3 days. She was united in marriage to H. M. Ely, March 10, 1906, and was for a number of years a resident of Mapleton. The deceased was born on the old home place, 5 miles west of Mapleton, where she grew to young womanhood. she was for sixteen years a successful teacher in the school of Monona County, eight years of which she taught in her home district. She was compelled to give up school work four years ago on account of failing health. Two years ago she with her husband went to Excelsior Springs, MO, where she had hopes of regaining her health, but received little benefit. Last March a trip was to Arizona where for a time the climate seemed to be beneficial, but a change for the worse came in July and she gradually grew worse until it was evident that the end was only a matter of a few weeks away, then she expressed a desire to once more see her relatives before death claimed its rewards. The return trip began and the family arrived at Rodney on November 5, where she remained at the home of her father N. R. Hollister until her death. She is survived by her husband and parents and in addition three brothers and six sisters as follows: Mrs. Wm Sanford and Geo Hollister of Mapleton; Mrs. Chas. Chilton, Smithland, Mrs. Will Carman, Hi Hollister, Lester Hollister and Hazel Hollister of Rodney, Mrs. H. M. Wilsey, and E.R. McLain, Deer Lodge, Mont. Funeral services were conducted from the Christian church at Rodney by Rev. Calkins, Wednesday, December 24. Interment was made in the Grant Cemetery.
