Antoine Allain, Jr. was the son of Antoine Allain Sr. and Marcelline Guertain. He changed the spelling of the name Allain to Allen, as did other French Canadian Allain families, since Allain is pronounced "Al-lan".

Antoine married Mary "Rebecca" Fournier, daughter of Hilaire Fournier and Rebecca Hebert, on 3 Jul 1869 in St. Anne, Kankakee County, Illinois. Antoine and Rebecca were married by Rev. Charles Chiniquy in the St. Anne, Illinois Presbyterian Church. Rebecca preceded him in death on 8 Oct 1918.

Twelve children were born to their marriage; Mary "Nellie" Ford (1870-1959), Charles Anthony Allen (1872-1945), Eddie Allen (1874-1949, Elmond "Allie" Allen (1876-1967), Harvey Allen (1877-1953), Maud Emaline Horan (1880-1938), Julia Delphine (Delia) Holtman (1882-1971), Louis Allen (1884-1964), Robert Harris Allen (1886-1961), Willis Robinson Allen (1889-1961), Minnie Ocea Brown (1891-1981), Laura Mae Garreau (1894-1973).

Leaving Illinois in 1872, Antoine moved his family to the Cloud County, Kansas area. The Kansas government was probably responsible for the name change from the French spelling of Allain to Allen. This took place when they filed a claim to homestead property at Clyde, Kansas. They were living in Ames, Kansas at the time, but were required to file the claim in Concordia, Kansas. Records reveal Antoine and his family lived in different areas thru out their life time…. Clay County, Kansas, Benton County, Indiana and then back to Illinois where Antoine retired from farming, moving to Clifton, where is his buried. He died in Iowa while visiting his daughter Laura Mae Garreau.

Funeral services for Antoine were held on 17 June 1938 at the Phillips and Friday Funeral Home in Kankakee, Illinois
