T/SGT DONALD L. FRY
The remains of T/Sgt. Donald L. Fry, 22 at the time of his death arrived in Springfield early this morning for burial here. Sergeant Fry was a native of Springfield and was educated in Sunshine, Jarrett Junior high and Senior high schools here. He also attended Southwest Missouri State college one term prior to enlisting in the Army in December, 1941. The soldier served in the Air Corps, and died on a reconnaissance flight to Tokyo when his plane crashed on Rykas island, August 25, 1945. He was awarded the Air medal and the Purple Heart. Surviving are his mother, Msr. Gola Fry, route 3, and two brothers, Lawrence M. of Lake of the Ozarks and Harvey H. Fry of Eldon. Funeral services will be at 2 o'clock Friday afternoon in the Alma Lohmeyer-Jewell E. Windle funeral chapel with the Rev. Sterl A. Watson officiating. Burial will be in Maple Park cemetery, with the American Legion conducting military services at the grave. Pallbearers will be Leland Marlin, Hugh Whitehead, Marvin Tong, Edward Clutter, Raymond Woody, and Dick Sandford.
