SUGARCREEK -- Dan A. Balder, 93, of Sugarcreek, died Monday, May 14, 2001, at Hennis Care Centre in Dover. He was born Feb. 26, 1908, in Holmes County, to Ernest and Laura Belle (Snyder) Balder and married Mary Gerber. She died in 1945. He then married Iona Bernhardt on Jan. 18, 1947. She died April 6, 1986.

Surviving are a son, Larry (Nancy) Balder of Millersburg; a daughter, Mrs. William (Marlene) Jones of North Port, Fla.; seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Services will be Friday at 11 a.m. at Butler-Varns Funeral Home in Sugarcreek with the Rev. Carlan Helgeson. Burial will be at Walnut Creek Mennonite Church Cemetery. Friends may call Thursday from
6-8 p.m. and Friday from 10-11 a.m. at the funeral home.
