She was the daughter of the late Daniel F. Wise and the late Pearl Wannamaker Wise. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Johnny Burns; three children, Carol B. Dowd, John Bruce Burns and Tommy Ray Burns; a sister, Theo W. Turner; and three brothers, Raysor T. Wise, Newman Wise and D. F. Wise.

She was a member of First Baptist Church of St. Matthews. She was a former employee of Hamrick's.

Survivors include her husband, James T. Dixon, Sr. of St. Matthews; son: Harry T. Burns of Gaston; stepson: James Dixon, Jr. of San Francisco; 10 grandchildren; a step-grandson; 14 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; and two sisters: Deola W. Williams of St. Matthews and Grace W. Whitaker of Orangeburg.
