John Field was an attorney who settled in Hempstead County, Arkansas and received election to the House of Representatives in 1842 and served until 1843. He was that same year appointed as Judge to the Sixth Circuit Court. He married Mary Jane Trimble in 1843. Together they were the parents of five children: Louisa, Mary Elizabeth, John, Frances and William. In 1856, at the young age of 38 years, John became ill and died within a few days.
