March 21, 1923 - Aug. 31, 2010

Lora Bernice Cummings, age 87 years, a lifelong resident of Dayton and Columbia County, currently of 414 W. Clay St. died Aug. 31, 2010, at her residence.

Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 11, 2010, at Hubbard-Rogg Chapel with Pastor Greg Brownell officiating. Burial will be in the family plot in the Dayton City Cemetery. Those who wish may contribute to Hospice or charity of the donor's choice. Donations may be sent to the Hubbard-Rogg Funeral Home, 111 S. 2nd St. Dayton, WA. Viewing will be at 7 p.m., Friday, Sept. 10, 2010, at the funeral chapel. Following the graveside service on Saturday there will be a lunch served at the Eagles Lodge.

Lora was born March 21, 1923, at her family's home on the Willow Creek, north of Dayton. Her parents were Stanley and Ada Leonard Boggs. She attended Star School and graduated from Dayton High School with the class of 1941. On Jan. 19, 1948, she married I.E. "Sherb" Cummings. He died in 1998. She worked at Freddies Market for many years and was a member of the Elizabeth Forrest Day Club. She enjoyed Bible study, music, playing the piano and organ, dancing, gardening, playing cards and doting on her grandchildren.

She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Carmelia and Bill Thompson of Mt. Vernon, Wash; a son and daughter-in-law, Michael and Beverly Cummings of Kennewick; one sister, Leota Laughery of Dayton; a brother, Bill Boggs of Dayton; seven grandchildren, Kim, Michael, Mark and Jim Thompson, Kelly Davis, Chris Cummings and Michael Cummings Jr.; 10 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; a brother, Howard Boggs; and two sisters, Betty Jean King and Alta Killits.
