He was born April 25th 1948 in Coffeyville to Richard H. "Pete" and Bertha B. "Bea" (Bonhanam) Shepard.
He grew up in Neodesha and graduated from high school in Wichita in 1967.
He served in the US. Army in Vietnam from 1969 to 1970 after discharge he returned to Wichita and worked for the Coleman Company. He later did construction work with his father in Wellsville. He worked for the State of Kansas Highway Dept until he was disabled.
He was a member of the Independence American Legion Post 139
He married Charlene Manley in 1968 they later divorced. He married Susan Karinder in 1973 They later divorced. He married Donna Jean Tinsley Aug 21, 2000. She survives of the home. Other survivors include six sons, Shawn Brooks, Paul's Velley OK; Shane Brooks, Mound Valley: Jeromy Shepard, Springfield, MO; Phillip Shepard, Caney: Brad Brooks, Manmouth Ill, and Jon Shepard, Bartlesville OK; two daughters Cynthia Shepard, Skiatook OK, and Kristen Reed, Caney; 10 grandchildren, his mother Bea Shepard, Wellsville; a brother Lyle Shepard, Wellsville; and two sisters Louis Mulberry, Cherryvale and Linda Walters, Wellsville.
He was preceded in death by his father in 1992 and a grandson.
He was cremated.
The Bath-Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home, Altamont, was in charge of arrangements.
