TUSCOLA - Jesse J. Abbott Jr., 55, of Tuscola died at 5 a.m. Tuesday (June 2, 2009) at his home. The funeral will be 1:30 p.m. Saturday at the McMullin-Young Funeral Home in Sullivan. Visitation will be 5-8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Burial will be in the French Cemetery in Allenville. He was born Dec. 5, 1953, in Decatur, the son of Jesse J. and Veta M. Maxedon Abbott Sr. He married Linda L. Hall in 1978; she survives. Other survivors include three sons, William C. Abbott of Arthur, Daryl Wayne Abbott and Adlai J. Abbott, both of Tuscola; one daughter, Crystal G. Bragg of Mattoon; two brothers, Van D. Abbott of Mattoon and Doyle D. Abbott of Jewett; one sister, Lois E. Pugh of Mattoon; three half-brothers, Ted Abbott of Bethany, James E. Abbott of Mattoon, and Paul D. Abbott of Neoga; two half-sisters, Norma L. Sheets and Leta F. Davis, both of Sullivan; and two grandsons. He was preceded in death by his parents, one son, one brother, three half-sisters and three half-brothers. Mr. Abbott retired as a transportation driver. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Toledo and the Tuscola Moose Lodge Post 729. Memorials may be made to the family.
