Retired supervisor at International Harvester Co. Son of Edgar Guy and Leota Belle (Bucher) Weller. Married Mary Jean "Jeanne" Shafer on 11 Jul 1936 in Clark County, OH. Father of Roger Merrill b. 5 Feb 1942, Ronald Gene b. 11 Sep 1943, Robert Joe b. 17 Oct 1944 and Roland Bruce b. 22 Aug 1954.
Became a Mason in Anthony Lodge No. 455 in Springfield, Ohio. Later affiliated with St. Andrew's Lodge No. 619 in Springfield, Ohio.

85, formerly of South Vienna and a resident of the Ohio Masonic Home, died Saturday, December 23, 2000 at Community Hospital after several years of failing health and several weeks of serious illness.
He was born near New Carlisle, in Pike Township, March 28, 1915, the son of Edgar Guy and Leota (Bucher) Weller, and was a lifelong resident of Clark County. He graduated from Springfield High School and, with his wife, was active with the reunion committee for the Class of 1934.
He was retired from Navistar International Truck Group with over 38 years, beginning in the office and progressing into several management positions. He was in the 27th year of retirement at the time of his death.
Merrill was active in Freemasonry, a member of St. Andrew's Lodge No. 619, F. & A.M., where he had held several officer's positions. He was also a life-member of Springfield Chapter No. 48, R.A.M., where he had served as an official and was a former trustee. He was a former member of Anthony Lodge No. 455, F. & A.M., Springfield Council No. 17, R.&S.M. and Palestine Commandery No. 33, K.T. He also served two terms as a member of the Board of Trustees of the Masonic Temple.
He was also a member of the Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite, Valley of Dayton, the Honorable Order of Kentucky Colonels, Central United Methodist Church and the Navistar Retired Management Association.
He was an active bowler and great sports fan during his life. He, along with Arthur Haggy, formed the Clark County Pony League and helped manage the South Vienna team.
Merrill was an avid collector of Weller Art Pottery, a passion which he passed on to his sons.
He is survived by four sons and two daughters-in-law: Roger M. Weller and his fiancee, Lynn Pollock of Davidsonville, Maryland, Ronald G. and Dianne Weller, Robert J. and Dianna Weller, all of Springfield and Roland B. Weller of South Vienna; sister-in-law, Mildred Weller of Springfield; six grandchildren: Lisa (Christopher) Anderson of Annapolis, Maryland, Andrew (Marilyn) Weller of Greensburg, Indiana, Aaron (Heather) Weller of Springfield, Amy (David) Davis of Waynesville, Steven Weller of Lawrenceville, and Kristina (Jason) Byrd of Springfield; three great-grandchildren: Jessica M. Rowe, Jason Storm Byrd and Shelbie M. Weller, all of Springfield; several nieces and nephews and special friends, Tom and Carol Waugh.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, William F. Weller, and his wife of 64 years, Jeanne S. Weller, who passed away November 12, 2000.
A gathering of family and friends will be held at the Littleton & Rue Funeral Home, Springfield, Tuesday from 4 to 8 p.m. Masonic services will be held at 7:30 p.m. by St. Andrew's Lodge No. 619, and a Scottish Rite service will follow. Funeral services will be held in the funeral home Wednesday at 10 a.m. with Pastor Julie Carmean, of Central United Methodist Church officiating. Interment will be in Glen Haven Memorial Gardens. Memorial gifts may be made in Merrill's memory to the Ohio Masonic Home Endowment Fund, P.O. Box 120, Springfield, Ohio 45501.
