Services for Vester Eugene "Cowboy" Burks, 82, of Cullman will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 10, 2001 at Williams-McCracken Chapel, the Rev. David Chambers officiating, with burial in Holly Pond Cemetery.
Williams-McCracken Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Mr. Burks died Sunday, Dec. 9 at Cullman Regional Medical Center. He was born April 15, 1919, in Holly Pond to David Lee and Velzure Gilley Burks. He was an operator in a fertilizer plant. He was preceded in death by his parents; and a son, Roy Kenyon Burks.
Survivors include his wife, Alice Garlan Burks of Cullman; four sons, Wendal Burks of Birmingham, Wayne Burks, Richard Burks and D.L. Denton, all of Cullman; a daughter, Bonita Gunter of South Carolina; five stepsons, Billy Harris, Jimmy Harris, Ronald Harris, Ricky Harris and Bruce Harris, all of Cullman; two stepdaughters, Libby Reid and Bertha Burks, both of Cullman; a sister, Mozel Willis of Holly Pond; 14 grandchildren; 13 step-grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and 12 step-great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. today.
