Terrance J. (Ted) McCarty, 87 years old, of Amherst, Ohio died on February 2, 2007 at EMH Regional Medical Center following a short illness.

Mr. McCarty was born in Elyria on April 6, 1919 and made his home in Elyria all of his life. He was a graduate of Elyria High School, class of 1936 and was employed at Invacare Corporation as a press operator, retiring in 1981.

He served with the US Army during WW II and received the American Defense Ribbon, the American Theatre Ribbon, Asiatic Pacific Theatre Ribbon with a Bronze Star, the Philippine Liberation Ribbon with one Bronze Star and the Victory Medal of WW II. He was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Elyria, a life member of VFW Post 1079, a member of the Elyria moose #778 and a member of the United Polish Club. He enjoyed golfing, fishing and gardening.

He is survived by one daughter, Sandra McCarty of Elyria; one son Edward of Amherst; his dear companion, Grace Renwick of North Ridgeville; three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

He is also survived by one brother, Thomas of North Olmsted and one sister, ALice Temkiewicz of Sheffield Lake.

He was preceded in death by one brother, Joseph; a sister, Florence Mehlke and his parents Charles and Katherine (nee Cunningham) McCarty.

Friends will be received at the Reichlin Roberts Funeral Home, 327 Cleveland St., Elyria, Ohio on Monday from 5-8 p.m. Funeral services will be on Tuesday in the funeral home at 10:00 a.m. with the Rev. Father William B. Padavick, pastor of Sacred Heart Church in Oberlin, officiating. Burial with full military honors, provided by VFW Post 1079 will be in Brookdale Cemetery, Elyria, Ohio.

Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of the donor's choice.
