MICHIGAN -- Funeral services for Carson Talmadge Phillips, 78, of Midland Township, Mich., will be held at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 8, from the Ware-Smith-Woolever Funeral Home, 1200 West Wheeler Street, Midland, Mich., www.waresmithwoolever.com. Burial will be in Midland Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 2-4 p.m. and from 6-8 p.m. today, Tuesday, Sept. 7, and from noon until time of services on Wednesday at the funeral home.
Mr. Phillips died Saturday, Sept. 4, 2010, at his home.
He was born Nov. 11, 1931, in Silver Point to the late Zachary and Minda Herren Phillips.
Mr. Phillips retired from the Dow Corning Corporation after 35 years of service and was a veteran of the Korean War. He was a member of the Midland Church of Christ.
His family includes his wife Barbara Hutcheson (whom he married May 17, 1958); two daughters and sons-in-law, Carla and John Wright and Laurie and Tim Howard; two sons, Lacen and Lance Phillips; seven grandchildren, Leah, Jacob and Amanda Wright, Jordan Phillips and Caleb, Lindsay and Justin Howard; six sisters and three brothers-in-law, Linnie Webb, Evylin Martin, Mae Hancock, Tilda and Cecil Hatcher, Irene and Loren Dinkel and Faye and Jim Beard; four brothers and three sisters-in-law, Charles and Virginia Phillips, Clarence Phillips, David and Joan Phillips and Donald and Sheila Phillips; a brother-in-law and his wife, Robert and Frieda Hutcheson; a sister-in-law, Lois Phillips; and 54 nephews and nieces.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by two brothers, Wendell and Kenneth Phillips; a sister Eva LaFever; three brothers-in-law, Norman Webb, Warren LaFever and Ellis Hutcheson; and two sisters-in-law Peggy Hutcheson and Helen Phillips.
Bill Burgess, Gerald Frump, Mike Lupanoff and Guy Warner will officiate at the services.
Memorial donations may be made to In Search of the Lord's Way or Shults Lewis Child and Family Services.
