Obituary, The Columbia Daily Tribune, August 13, 2006:

Dr. B. Rosemary Barrow, 64, of Columbia passed away Friday, Aug. 11, 2006, at University Hospital.

Services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, Aug. 14, at Firestone Baars Chapel on the Stephens College campus. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday Parker Funeral Service, 22 N. Tenth St. Burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery in Columbia. A reception for family and friends will be held at 11 a.m. Monday in the ballroom of Lela Rainey Wood Hall on the Stephens campus.

Rosemary was born on Jan. 12, 1942, in Davenport, Iowa, to Frank and Bernice Cutshall Gruber. She married Dr. Lloyd H. Barrow on June 5, 1965, in Davenport.

Rosemary graduated from Davenport Central High School in 1960. She received her bachelor's degree in mathematics education from Iowa State University in 1964, her master's degree in counselor education from the University of Northern Iowa in 1965 and her doctorate in counselor education from the University of Maine in 1982. Rosemary had taught mathematics and served as a counselor in eastern Iowa schools. She also taught remedial mathematics at Bangor Community College in Maine from 1979 to 1982. She was coordinator of the Trio Project at the University of Maine from 1982 to 1985. She was an Army mathematics teacher at Lincoln University from 1985 to 1987. She served as resource coordinator at Moberly Area Community College from 1987 to 1989. She worked as counseling director of Comprehensive Human Services in Columbia from 1989 to 1993. From 1993 until 1995, she was assistant professor of counselor education and psychology at Northwest Missouri State University. Dr. Barrow was associate professor of psychology and was a founding director of counselor education at Stephens College from 1998 until her retirement in 2003.

Survivors include her husband; her son, Dr. Lon L. Barrow and daughter-in-law Susan of Wellington, Fla.; her daughter, Valerie K. Bridgford and son-in-law Allen of Columbia; five grandchildren, Robert, Elizabeth and Kaylee Bridgford and Trevor and Dana Barrow; and one brother, F. Albert Gruber of Davenport.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Cosmopolitan International Diabetes and Endocrinology Center at the University of Missouri, 1 Hospital Drive, Columbia, Mo., 65201; (573) 882-3818; for future education and research.
