John Edward Millard was the fifth of ten children born to Jesse & Hester Ann (Myers) Millard.

He married his first wife, Florence Elveretta Burgess, on April 2, 1866. She was born May 9, 1851 in Livingston County, New York, to Benjamin Jesse and Cornelia Esther (nee Richards) Burgess. She died between 1901-1905. She was the mother of his 9 children. They were married over 34 years.

NOTE: There is a death record for Mrs. J. E. MILLER, died July 11, 1903, that died in Lavaca County, Texas. This is NOT the death record for Florence Millard. It is for Cannie M. Miller, FAG #61602748, wife of John Edgar Miller.

Between the years of 1901-1905 he relocated to Texas. His son, Frank David Millard, followed his father shortly thereafter.

He married his second wife, Ella Lucille Allen, in 1905. They were married 26 years before he passed away. They had no children together.
