Emma Frances Kinard Johnson died April 13, 2010 surrounded by her family in her home of 50 years in Woodfield, Md.

Mrs. Johnson was born in Jasper County, Ga., on May 29, 1929 to James Clyde Kinard and Mellie Julia Robinson Kinard, the fourth of six children. She met Virgil Evans "Jack" Johnson, Jr. in Atlanta and they were married on November 20, 1948, a marriage that lasted 61 years.

Mrs. Johnson was a wonderful wife and mother. She was always available to her family for advice and comfort. She was "Granny" to eight grandchildren.

Survivors include her husband, Dr. V.E. Johnson of Woodfield, Md., three daughters, Cynthia Helen Latimer of Vienna, Va., Lynn Anne Langer of North Potomac, Md., and Shirley Frances Brott of Flower Mound, Texas; a sister, Mary Kinard Cox of Chamblee; eight grandchildren, Tracey Chenault of Doswell, Va., Jacqui Jeffrey of Youngstown, Ohio; Benjamin Kemp of Phoenix, Ariz., Adam Kemp of Vienna, Va., Julia Langer of North Potomac, Md., Alex Brott and Lilly Brott, both of Flower Mound, Texas, and Laura Lee Brott of Denton Texas, and six great-granchildren, Emma, Jack, Patti, Cameron, Jane and Sam.

Her brothers, J.R., Legare, Bill, and Charles preceded her in death.

Funeral services were held April 17 at Molesworth-Williams P.A. Funeral Home in Damascus, Md., with interment in All Souls Cemetery in Germantown, Md.

The family suggests memorial contributions be made to Montgomery Hospice, 1355 Piccard Dr., Ste. 100, Rockville, Md. 20850. Persons should indicate on their donation that it is in memory of Frances K. Johnson.
