Julius Robert Pinkston

Julius Robert Pinkston, 66, of Greenwood, died of heart failure Monday, February 16, 1998, at Mississippi Baptist Medical Center in Jackson.

Mr. Pinkston was born in Carroll County. He was a graduate of Vaiden High School and had served in the Korean War. He moved to Greenwood in 1954 and was associated with The Dr. Pepper Bottling Company. He had the Pepsi Cola Distributorship in Greenwood for several years. For eight years he worked for Morman Feed Company as a salesman and had been associated with Ferguson Sand and Gravel since 1992. He was a member of Shongalo Presbyterian Church of Vaiden, Blackhawk Hunting Club and a member of the V.F.W.

Funeral services were held at 3 p.m. Wednesday, Feb, 18, at Wilson & Knight Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Toby Yelverton officiating. Burial was in Vaiden Cemetery.

Mr. Pinkston is survived by his wife, Mrs. Sara Hodges Pinkston of Greenwood; his mother, Mrs. Eva Gober Pinkston of Vaiden; one brother, James Pinkston of Birmingham, Ala.; two sisters, Mrs. Sara Williams of Mobile, Ala., Mrs. Martha Milner of Vaiden; and several nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers were Ricky Pinkston, Billy Pinkston, Houston Baker, Michael Todd Avant, Donald Shelton, Junior Funderburk, Marion Boggs, and Benny McClellan.

Honorary pallbearers were Doug Avant, Jesse Ferguson, Bill Ferguson, and Harry Sparkman.

Memorials may be sent to the American Heart Association.

Wilson & Knight Funeral, Inc. of Greenwood was in charge of arrangements.
