" Richard H. Miller, age 89, a life-long resident of Ritzville, died May 22 in a care facility in Spokane.
The son of John George and Anna Elizabeth (Urich) Miller, he was born March 11, 1916, in Ritzville. He was graduated from Ritzville High School in 1934. He worked locally before entering the U. S. Army, November 24, 1942. He served with the 27th General Hospital in Holland, Dutch New Guinea. He returned from the Army to Ritzville, December 22, 1945. He worked as a night clerk at the Desert Hotel in Ritzville. In 1946, he became the city clerk for Ritzville, a position he held for 36 years before retiring in 1978. He was a member of Emanuel Lutheran Church, was 60-year member of C. J. Newland Post 51 of Ritzville, and was an avid bowler, being a member of the Ritzville Senior Bowling League.
Surviving is his daughter, Sandra Haemmelman, and husband, Leo, of Moses Lake; a sister, Violet Michaelson, of Cheney; four grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two brothers Rinolt and Adolph Miller, and two sisters, Martha Solmeyer and Helen Lamb.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, May 27, 2 p. m. at Danekas Funeral Home Chapel, Ritzville, followed by vault interment at Ritzville Memorial Cemetery, with Pastor Robert Kenyon officiating. The family suggests memorial contributions be made in his name to Emanuel Lutheran Church. Visitation is at Danekas Funeral Home on Thursday, May 26, from 1-5 p. m. Danekas Funeral Home, R itzville, is in charge of arrangements."
