His military career includes: A soldier in the French and Indian War in Major George Leonard's company, train band list, April 9, 1757; Corporal, April 30 to November 25 in the Crown Point Expedition; also in Captain Simeon Wetherell's company of Norton (list dated April 6, 1757). He served also in the American Revolution in Captain Lemuel Kellock's company, Colonel John Smith's regiment, April 19, 1775. He or his son of the same name (of whom nothing is known) served in Captain Samuel Fisher's company, Major Seth Bullard's regiment, 1780.
