Gresham resident Agnes Marie Rutherford died on Aug. 27 at the age of 98; the cause of death was related to old age.
She was born on Oct. 29, 1911, in Portland, to parents Alfred E. and Mabel Staub and was raised in the Highland area of Beavercreek, where she spent most of her life.
She graduated from Washington High School with high honors and went on to earn a teaching certificate from Oregon Normal School (now Western Oregon University) in 1929.
She taught in Meadowbrook, Falls View, Alberta and Clarkes Schools and retired in 1974. She attended Lower Highland Bible Church.
She is survived by: three sons; one sister; seven grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by: husband, Henry Rutherford; nine sisters; and two brothers.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. at the Lower Highland Bible Church, 24353 S Ridge Road, in Beavercreek, on Thursday, Sept. 9; private interment will be at Highland Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to: Lower Highland Bible Church or Upward Bound Camp for Persons with Special Needs, PO Box C, Stayton, OR 97383.
Arrangements: Cornerstone Funeral Service and Cremation.
