Monday at 11 a.m. Herbert Monday, aged 28, was fatally hurt at the county rock crusher near Crab Orchard. The Bilbrey ambulance was called and he was rushed to Chamberlain hospital, Rockwood and an operation was performed in an effort to save his life, but he died that night.
The accident was due to his being caught with a car of dirt that was being carried on a small tram car track to get it out of the way. His left leg was broken above the ankle, his hip dislocated and he was injured internally.
He leaves a wife and 2 small children.
Burial was at Haley's Grove cemetery Tuesday.
