Lydia E. Parr Stacy Grubbs. the "Lydia S. Grubbs" here standing for "Lydia Stacy Grubbs," was the daughter of Rev. John Overton Parr (1817-1868) of Lincoln County, Tennessee and Almyra Prudence Crawford (1816-1899) of Mauryi County, Tennessee. The family had come from Tennessee via Missouri, where their son Alonzo was born in 1849, to Harrison County, Texas by 1850, and to Morris County, Texas, where their daughter Martha was born in 1851 and son James about 1851. Lydia, however, was born 7 May 1859 in Grayson County, Texas, where her father had probably gone as a pastor. He is known to have preached to Indians in Indian Territory, which likely occurred about this time. Lydia married, first, Isham Harrison Stacy on 23 Nov 1880, in Morris County, Texas and they had one son, Max Stacy, born 1 Jul 1881, in Morris County, Texas. She met our grandfather, Vicnent Woodbury Grubbs in Greenville, Texas and they were married on 28 Jan 1891 in the Cumberland Presbyterian Church in Denton, Texas, where she had worshipped earlier when living with her brother Alomzo Carson ("Lonnie") Parr and his family. Max accompanied them on the train ride from Greenville to Denton and back. Affectionate nieces and nephews called her "Aunt Liddie" and "Aunt Diddie."
