Mrs. Vera Cox Porter-Greer, age 84, of Old Brickyard Road, North Wilkesboro died Friday, July 10, 2009 at Villages of Wilkes Skilled Care.
A graveside service will be held Sunday 2:00 PM, July 12, 2009 at Lewis Fork Baptist Church Cemetery with Rev. Sherrill Wellborn officiating. The family will receive friends Saturday evening from 6:30 to 8:00.
Mrs. Porter-Greer was born March 14, 1925 in Wilkes County to Zollie and Zora Cox Dunn. Before retiring, she worked for Holly Farms and was a member of Lewis Fork Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Walter W. Porter-Greer.
She is survived by: three daughters, Judy Wingler of North Wilkesboro, Lynn Alexander of Hudson, FL, Patricia Panther of Newton Conover, NC; five sons, Frank Greer of Millers Creek, Richard Greer of Wilkesboro, David Greer of Lenoir, Wayne Greer of North Wilkesboro, Neil Greer of Hudson, FL; one half-sister, Mevelene Triplett of Wilkesboro; one half –brother, Garvin Adkins of Purlear; 15 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
