Married to Cloyd Taylor in 1945, Ruth learned flexibility as a "military wife" and mother of Mary, Cloydia and Cloyd, Jr. The family moved 12 times in 12 years. Her slogan became "We'll find it when we move." A woman of diverse interests, Ruth had her own vegetable, fruit and flower garden. The garden provided flowers for the church for several years. She also grew raspberries which she and her family enjoyed. Ruth sewed "Taylor made" clothes, helped pregnant teens, and volunteered for Meals on Wheels, Potomac Park Overlook, Literacy Volunteers, and the thrift shop of Rainbow Christian Services. Recently, she served two years as President of the local chapter of the American Association of Retired Persons and was a member of the Senior Citizens Advisory Committee. In addition Ruth and Cloyd jointly operated a "Bed and Breakfast" in their home.
