William Owen Frey

William "Owen" Frey, 88, of Goshen, died Monday afternoon, April 6, 2009, at Goshen General Hospital.

He was born in Topeka on December 11, 1920, to Simon and Fannie (Miller) Frey. He married Vivian Roose on December 23, 1951 in the West Goshen Church of the Brethren. She survives.

A lifelong area resident, Mr. Frey retired in 1986,after 46 years, from Starcraft Marine as a supervisor. Following retirement he worked for Turtle Top until 2004.

A member of the West Goshen Church of the Brethren, he was the first member of Starcraft Camper Club. During World War II he served in the Civilian Public Service. He made two trips with Heifer International to deliver livestock to Poland and Italy. He was an avid gardener and enjoyed watching his grandchildren play sports.

He is survived by his wife; four children, David (Julie) Frey of Middlebury and Diane Frey, Michael Frey and James (Christine) Frey, all of Goshen; four grandchildren, Jessica, Anne, Karmen and Andrew Frey; two sisters, Sue Colagrassi of Elkhart and Darlene (Titus) Martin of Goshen; and a brother, Vernon J. (Berdine) Frey of Goshen.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Goldie Butts; a sister, Mamie Bontrager and three brothers, Ed, Irvin and Harley Frey.

Friends may call 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m., Thursday, April 9, at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home and one hour prior to the service on Friday at the church.

A 10:00 a.m., Friday, April 10, 2009, funeral service will be conducted at West Goshen Church of the Brethren with Pastor Norm Replogle officiating.

Burial will be in West Goshen Cemetery, Goshen.

Memorial contributions may be given to West Goshen Church of the Brethren or Heifer International.
