Henry Marvin Schoessler, age 83, a lifelong resident and area farmer of Ritzville, died June 21 at a nursing home in Moses Lake. Henry M. Schoessler, the son of Henry and Katherine (Yost) Schoessler, was born June 20, 1920 at Ritzville and graduated from Ritzville High School in 1938. He entered the U.S. Army Air Corps May 28, 1942 and served 3-1/2 years as a First Sergeant of A Company, 18th Tank Battalion, 8th Armored Division and was awarded the Bronze Star. After his discharge Dec. 8, 1945, he returned to Ritzville to manage the family farm 3-1/2 miles northwest of Ritzville. He married Norma P. Schafer Nov. 3, 1951, in Ritzville. He retired from farming in 1984. He was a member of Zion Congregational Church, American Legion, C.J. Newland Post No. 51, the 8th Armored Division and a member of Washington Association of Wheat farmers. He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Norma of Ritzville; a daughter Janet Clarke and husband Victor of Vancouver; a son John M. Schoessler and wife Stacey of Ritzville; three grandchildren; a brother Raymond Schoessler of Salem, OR; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by brothers Harold and Walter. Private family vault internment was held June 24 at Ritzville Memorial Cemetery followed by a memorial service at Zion Congregational Church with Pastor Sandra Sparks officiating. The family asks that memorial donations be made to Zion congregational Church, 310E Broadway, Ritzville, WA. Danekas Funeral Home, Ritzville, was in charge of arrangements.
