The Eagle News Paper of Fayetteville August, 1868

It again becomes our melancholy duty to announce the death of our oldest and most respeted citizen that of Mr. Edward W. Barge.
Mr. Barge died on Monday after a long and lingering illness, at the advanced age of 89.
He was, and had been for a great many years a member of The Presbyterian Church in this place, and was a consistent
Christian.
The writer of this notice remembers him from his earliest boyhood and remembers of him nothing but good.
All men have their faults and their detractors, but if in all that time he had one, the writer never heard of it.
He was born and raised here, and was well known by everyone and of him nothing was known that was not good.
May our end be like His.

Edward Barge was the son of Lewis Barge & Christiana Stelle Barge ,he was part of a Large family, Edward is buried next to his Father Lewis in The Barge Section of Cross Creek Cemetery he is a Brother to Abraham Barge who is buried in Oconee Georgia.
Uncle Edward was a Soldier he never married he lived his intire life in Fayettiville North Carolina.
