LEXINGTON - Ruby I. Stevenson, 79, Genoa, Wis., formerly of Lexington, died at 11:30 a.m. on Tuesday (Sept. 26, 2006) at the Hillview Health Care Center, La Crosse, Wis.

Her graveside service will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Lexington Cemetery, with the Rev. Jan Proeber officiating. Arrangements are being handled by Calvert & Musselman Funeral Home, Lexington. Visitation and a prayer service were held in La Crosse, Wis., on Thursday. There will be no local visitation. Memorials may be made to Lexington Ambulance or Fire Department, or a charity of the donor's choice.

She was born in Lexington, on July 16, 1927, a daughter of Hale and Cora McKeown Hardman. She married her husband of 58 years, Carl F. Stevenson, on July 24, 1948, in Lexington.

He survives along with two sisters, Lucille Durflinger, Lexington, and Trilby (Jim) Sedgewick, Normal; three brothers, Dave (Ruthann) Hardman, Gridley; Kaywin "Jack" (Sue) Hardman, Melrose Park; and Leslie "Butch" (Carol) Hardman, Lexington; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her stepmother, Mildred; a brother, Loren Hardman; and an infant brother and sister.

Ruby worked for an insurance agency in Chicago for many years before retiring in 1987.

She and Carl vacationed and took many fishing trips to the Genoa area for many years and moved to Genoa after they retired. She was a member of the Genoa-DeSoto American Legion Auxiliary. She attended the Stoddard United Methodist Church, Stoddard, Wis.
