"August Thorn was from Skane where he was born in 1864. When he and h is two siblings were still young, their father died and the mother married Nels Thorn. The family emigrated and came to this country in 1873 when August was nine years old. They settled in Paxton, Illinois. After three years they Thorn family set out for Texas."
