Nicholas Boris,45, was killed instantly in a rock fall in the chamber he was working in at the Alden Colliery Tuesday afternoon.
He was born in Austria and has been living in Alden for several years.
Surviving is his wife, Mary. A son, Nicholas, a student at Newport Township High School. Sisters Catherine Stichak, Alden; Mrs Dimtro Zazul, Elizabeth, NJ; His mother, brother Michael and sister Sophia all of Europe.
A funeral was held Saturday morning, from his home at 37 East Kirmar Road, Alden and was attended by many friends including delegations from the Russian Brotherhood and the Alden Mine Local.
Services were held at the Holy Resurrection Russian Orthodox Church, Alden. Internment was in the parish cemetery, Alden.
