William Samuel Rose is the fourth born of my great grandfather Samuel Rose and the third one to survive to adulthoold. He left home as a young adult and settled first near Arkabutla, MS in Tate County. He married there on 5 June 1898 to Allie Myrtle Coain. Their first child Louis Christain was born in May of 1899. The 1900 census of Tate County shows them there. By 1902 they were in Iuka, MS and in 1904 they were living near Cotton Plant, Arkansas. That small town is just north of present day I-40 about halfway between Memphis and Little Rock. Allie Myrtle hade been born in Lebonan, Arkansas and that was likely the incentive for the family's move there. The family must have lived for a short time in Oklahoma with or near Will's brother, Nick. Their daughter Rena Mary was born in Spencerville, OK in March of 1908. The family did not remain there long returning to Cotton Plant.

In Feb of 1909, my grandfather Jim Rose got a telegram that Will had died. Will was only 36 years old and it is thought that he died from the flu or similar disease. He ws buried at Cotton plant but neither his grave nor that of his daughter are marked or the markers are gone.
